Selfpost Carrier Partnership Terms
These terms apply to logistics companies Selfpost has approved as carrier partners, and to the people who act on their behalf. They sit alongside the Terms of Service, which continue to govern use of the platform itself.
Version 1.0, effective 26 August 2026. Sending an application is not acceptance of these terms: an approved company is invited to accept them once, before onboarding begins.
1. Definitions
The following words have a fixed meaning wherever they appear in these terms.
- Carrier — the company whose application to the carrier partner programme Selfpost has approved and which has accepted these terms. The Carrier is the party contracting with Selfpost.
- Operator — a natural person the Carrier has authorised to act on its behalf on the platform. An Operator holds a personal account and acts for one Carrier.
- Sender — the user who publishes a delivery request and pays for the delivery.
- Order — a delivery request published by a Sender, together with everything that follows from it until the delivery is confirmed or the Order is cancelled.
- Offer — a proposal an Operator submits against an Order, stating the price and the timeframe in which the Carrier will perform the delivery. An Offer binds the Carrier once the Sender accepts it and payment is confirmed.
2. Status of the Carrier
The Carrier performs deliveries as an independent contractor. Nothing in these terms creates employment, agency, partnership or a joint venture between the Carrier, its Operators and Selfpost, and neither party may make representations on behalf of the other.
Selfpost UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Fürstenrieder Straße 279 a, 81377 München, operates an online intermediary platform. It is not a carrier, a freight forwarder or a postal operator. It does not take possession of a parcel, does not perform carriage and does not issue transport documents. The contract of carriage arising from an accepted Offer is between the Sender and the Carrier.
The Carrier decides how, when and with which vehicles, staff and subcontractors it performs a delivery, within what it offered and what the law requires. Where it uses a subcontractor, the Carrier remains responsible for that performance as if it were its own.
3. Onboarding and verification
A company becomes a Carrier only after Selfpost approves its application, an Operator accepts these terms on the company's behalf, and onboarding is completed. Approval is given by a person and is never automatic.
These terms are accepted once, by the first Operator, for the whole company. Selfpost records the version accepted, the time of acceptance and the Operator who gave it. Operators added later are bound by what the company already accepted and do not accept again.
Company onboarding runs through Stripe Connect as a business. At least one Operator must complete identity verification personally before the Carrier can act on an Order. Verification is performed on the person by the verification provider; the company cannot complete it on an Operator's behalf.
A Carrier may hold up to three Operators. All of them have identical rights — there are no roles, no seniority and no approval hierarchy between them. Every Operator verifies personally, and every Operator's actions bind the Carrier equally.
The Carrier keeps its registered details, licences, contact address and list of Operators current, and informs Selfpost without delay of any change affecting its ability to perform deliveries lawfully, including an Operator who should no longer act for it.
4. Orders, Offers and performance
Operators see the same order feed as individual executors on the platform. There is no separate queue and no priority placement, and Selfpost does not undertake that any Order will be available or that any Offer will be accepted.
The Carrier sets its own prices. An Offer states the price and the timeframe, and the Carrier may decline any Order for any lawful reason, including one it cannot carry lawfully or safely.
Until the Sender's payment is confirmed, an Offer is shown without the Carrier's legal or trading name and without the Operator's name. The company name is disclosed to the Sender only after payment. Selfpost does not publish a directory of its carrier partners.
Once an Offer is accepted, the Carrier performs the delivery with the professional care expected of a commercial operator and within the timeframe it offered. Where that timeframe can no longer be met, the Carrier says so through the platform rather than letting the date pass.
5. Payments and fees
The Sender pays the whole delivery price through the platform's payment provider once an Offer is accepted. The payment provider holds the money, and it is not available to the Carrier while the delivery is in progress. After the delivery is confirmed on the platform, the Carrier's share is released and transferred.
Payouts are made exclusively to the verified company account established during onboarding, whichever Operator handled the Order. Selfpost does not pay an Operator personally and does not redirect a payout to a different account on request.
Selfpost retains a service commission on a completed Order under the fee schedule in force at that time. The amount applying to an Order is shown to the Operator before an Offer is submitted, and the Offer is made on the basis of that figure.
The Carrier is responsible for its own taxes, including value added tax where it applies, and for the social security contributions of its Operators and staff. Selfpost does not withhold, declare or remit them on the Carrier's behalf.
6. Licences and legal compliance
The Carrier warrants that it holds every licence, permit, registration and authorisation required for the carriage it performs, in each country in which it operates and for each border it crosses, and that these remain valid for as long as it accepts Orders. Selfpost may ask for evidence at any time.
The Carrier complies with the transport, customs, road safety, driving time and employment rules applying to its operations, and refuses any consignment it may not lawfully carry.
Responsibility for the goods lies with the Carrier from the moment it accepts them until the delivery is confirmed. Selfpost provides no insurance for a consignment, and nothing on the platform is to be read as cover. Whether to insure the goods, and for what amount, is the Carrier's own commercial decision.
7. Non-circumvention
Contact details, addresses and recipient information reaching the Carrier through the platform are provided for performing platform Orders and for nothing else. They may not be used for marketing, for building a client list, or to solicit business away from Selfpost.
Neither the Carrier nor its Operators may agree, invoice or accept payment for a delivery outside the platform where the Sender was introduced by it, or ask a Sender to cancel an Order and arrange the same delivery privately.
A breach of this section leads to immediate suspension of the Carrier and all of its Operators, without prior notice, in addition to any other remedy available to Selfpost.
8. Data protection
Selfpost and the Carrier are each a separate controller of the personal data they hold. Selfpost processes the data of Senders, recipients and Operators in order to operate the platform; the Carrier processes what it receives in order to perform deliveries.
The Carrier uses recipient data only to perform the Order it was given for, keeps it no longer than that purpose and its own legal record-keeping require, and protects it against unauthorised access. It does not pass that data to anyone not involved in performing the delivery.
The Carrier informs Selfpost without undue delay of any personal data breach affecting data received through the platform. How Selfpost handles personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy.
9. Suspension and termination
Either party may end this agreement by notice to the other. Orders already accepted are completed first, or cancelled through the platform where completing them is no longer possible.
Selfpost may suspend a Carrier, or an individual Operator, with immediate effect where it has reasonable grounds to protect users, to investigate suspected fraud or misuse, to comply with the law, or to respond to a material breach of these terms, a lapsed licence or a failed verification.
Suspension stops new Offers. It does not end the obligation to complete an Order already in progress or to account for goods already accepted. Amounts owed for deliveries properly completed before suspension are paid out in the ordinary way.
10. Liability and indemnity
Selfpost is liable only for intent and gross negligence. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for injury to life, body or health and liability under the Product Liability Act.
Selfpost is not liable for the performance of a delivery, for loss of or damage to goods in the Carrier's care, or for the conduct of a Sender or a recipient, and it gives no undertaking as to the number of Orders, the rate at which Offers are accepted, or any level of income.
The Carrier indemnifies Selfpost against claims, fines and reasonable costs raised by a third party and arising from the Carrier's performance of a delivery, its breach of these terms, or its failure to hold a required licence or to comply with the law.
11. Changes to these terms
Selfpost may change these terms. The Carrier is notified at its registered email address at least fourteen days before a change takes effect, and the notice states what has changed.
A Carrier that does not accept a change may end this agreement before the change takes effect. Submitting Offers after that date is acceptance of the new version. Orders accepted under an earlier version remain governed by it until they close.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
The Carrier contracts as a business. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms is Munich, Germany.
These terms are written in English and the English text is authoritative. Any translation is provided for convenience only, and where it differs the English text governs.
