Delivery through Selfpost, with every step confirmed

Parcels travel with people already going that way.

Carrier companies publish ongoing routes and confirm each shipment with an offer. Senders choose a route and request a quote. Travellers can also carry parcels on trips they are already taking. Payment and delivery confirmation stay in Selfpost.

What protects the deal

  • ID verificationSender and traveller both confirm who they are with an ID document, checked by an identity verification service.
  • Payment through StripeStripe handles the card details and Selfpost never stores them.
  • Contact details after paymentThe traveller sees the recipient's contact details only once payment is confirmed.
  • One-time code at handoverDelivery counts only after the recipient gives the traveller a one-time code.

One route, two roles

Send a parcel or carry one on a trip you are already taking.

Senders publish parcel requests and review offers. Travellers respond to requests along journeys they are already making. Senders can also request a quote from an ongoing carrier route. Every delivery uses the same Selfpost payment and confirmation process.

For senders

Create a request with the route, parcel details, recipient information and the delivery price you are offering. Request a quote from an ongoing carrier route or review a traveller proposal, then decide whether to accept it.

  • Only a traveller with a verified identity can propose a delivery
  • Set the route, parcel details and offered price
  • Review and accept or decline a traveller's proposal
  • Pay by card after accepting a proposal
  • Ask the recipient to share the code only after delivery
Send a parcel

For travellers

Search delivery requests along the route you are already taking. Review the parcel details before proposing to carry it; the sender must accept your proposal before the delivery proceeds.

  • Only a sender with a verified identity can post a request
  • Search requests that match the trip you are taking
  • Review parcel details before proposing
  • Arrange pickup only after the proposal is accepted and payment is confirmed
  • Enter the recipient's code after the parcel is delivered

From route to confirmation

How Selfpost works

  1. 1

    Start with a route

A sender explores ongoing carrier routes or publishes a parcel request. Companies confirm each shipment individually; travellers can respond to requests along their trips.

  2. 2

    Send and review a proposal

The carrier or traveller reviews the parcel and sends an offer with a price and delivery deadline. The sender accepts or declines before payment.

  3. 3

    Pay and arrange pickup

After accepting a proposal, the sender pays by card through Stripe. The order then provides the information needed to coordinate the handover.

  4. 4

    Confirm receipt

After the recipient has the parcel, they give the one-time delivery code to the traveller. Entering the code confirms completion.

Every step confirmed

Know what happens before the parcel changes hands.

Identity is checked before any money moves: without it an account cannot post a delivery request, offer to carry one, or pay. From there Selfpost keeps the request, proposal, payment and delivery confirmation connected to the same order.

Passport identity verification

Both sides confirm who they are with an ID document — a passport or equivalent — checked by an identity verification service. Neither side reaches a deal unverified. The documents are processed by the verification provider; Selfpost does not store them.

Payment through Stripe

Card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Selfpost.

Contact details after payment

The traveller receives the recipient contact details only after payment is confirmed.

A code confirms receipt

After payment, the sender can view the delivery code in the order. If a recipient email was provided, Selfpost also emails it to them. The recipient shares it with the courier only after the parcel has arrived; pickup status and photos are optional.

FAQ

Questions before your first delivery

The essentials about payments, contact details, delivery confirmation and route matching.

Who carries my parcel?

A traveller already planning a journey along the route can propose to carry it. The sender reviews the proposal and decides whether to accept it. Selfpost provides the request, payment and delivery-confirmation flow; it is not the transport carrier.

How do you check who I am dealing with?

Both sides verify their identity with an ID document — a passport or equivalent — checked by an identity verification service, so an unverified person cannot turn up in your deal. The documents are processed by the verification provider; Selfpost does not store them.

How are payments handled?

The sender pays by card through Stripe after accepting a traveller's proposal. Stripe handles the card details; Selfpost does not store them.

When are contact details shared?

Search results show the route and request information needed to decide whether to proceed. The traveller receives the recipient contact details only after payment is confirmed.

How does the delivery code work?

After payment, Selfpost creates the delivery code. If a recipient email was provided, Selfpost emails it to them; the sender can also view the same code in the order as a backup. Without a recipient email, the sender must pass it to the recipient. Only after receiving the parcel does the recipient give the code to the courier. Pickup status and photos are optional.

What can I send?

Only lawful items permitted throughout the route. Before proceeding, the sender and traveller must check airline or transport-provider rules, customs requirements, and restrictions at the origin and destination.

What if there is no match for my route?

A sender can post a delivery request and wait for a traveller on that route to propose carrying it. A traveller can try a nearby route or check again closer to the trip.

Start with your route.

Search before signing in. If nothing matches yet, post a delivery request and travellers on that route can propose to carry it.
